Why do so few people know about the Summer Palace (Yuan Ming Yuan)?

Because it doesn't really exist anymore, having been destroyed a while ago, only as ruins. No offense anyone, but foreigners don't really pay attention to such places. But if you ask any Chinese person, they'll know what it is.
