Why are Asian dudes so short?

I don't live around a lot of Asians, but my brother works around a lot of them and he needed a ride home from work. So when I went to pick him up, I noticed I'm like a foot taller than all of them who were grown and I'm only 17. I was surprised because Yao Ming who's an asian basketball player is like 7'8 or some sh*t
