Child Custody Case Help?

Im the petitioner for a child custody case Im representing myself since I cant afford an attorney at the time my question is I opened a case in a different county because I was adviced by a law school student thats what I was supposed to do when I went for a emergency hearing the judge was so rude and told me what am I doing there when I live almost 200 miles away from that county, before the mediation date I sent a letter for dismissal for the case to the judge and respondent I called yesterday the judges clerk and she stated thats not enough information for my case to be dismissed the thing is I already opened a case where Im living at in my county, does anyone have a similar situation Im going to stick to the one by where I live I cant be traveling 200 miles 4 days a week for the first case.
